Employee Accommodations and Resources
Indiana University is committed to providing students, faculty, staff, and visitors access to all university programs, activities, and facilities.
When an employee has a qualified disability (as defined by the ADA) which limits his or her ability to perform the essential functions of their job, it is the policy of Indiana University to provide a reasonable accommodation when necessary. There are various resources on campus available to faculty and staff with disabilities. Accommodations will vary on a case-by-case basis. Though not exhaustive, forms of assistance include could include job restructuring, modified work schedules, obtaining or modifying equipment or devices, modifying examinations, training materials or policies, providing qualified readers and interpreters, and/or making facilities readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities.
A description of the resources available to employees with disabilities (organized by campus) can be found by following the links below. Each campus has a designated office that can help facilitate reasonable accommodations and services for employees with disabilities, and that office can be found under the “Employment Accommodations and Assistance” heading after selecting your campus’ link. That offices listed can also serve as a valuable resource if you have questions about delivering accommodations in your unit. Resources also exist if you need information on delivering accommodations in the classroom, assisting visitors, or planning events.
